Button Machines, What Are They?
A button machine is a must have if you want to make your own buttons. Another piece of equipment that goes along with a button machine is a circle cutter. You can try to cut the circles by hand, but it can really slow down the process. Button machines can be expensive, so if you are in a large city you may want to rent one. If you do have the money to spend there are many retailers online that sell them, as well as used models you can find on amazon or ebay. Of course you'll also need paper as well as a printer. If you're going to be designing your own buttons you'll need software to do that but that's a whole other issue. For this we're going to stick to the physical items.
What's the best button machine?
That depends on what you want to use it for and how much you want to spend. Many generic button machines are durable and sturdy, they get the job done and they aren't too expensive. Other high end button machines accommodate multiple button sizes and may be less durable due to their complexity.
Different Types Of Button Machines
There are four main different types of button machines. Which one is best for you depends, again, on what you play on doing with it. Some are more expensive and can produce buttons faster and in different sizes. Some are less expensive but will do the job if you only plan on making buttons as a hobby.
The Fully Automatic Button Machine
This is easily the most expensive button machine you can buy. It requires little effort on your part and can produce a large amount of buttons in a short time. What's the catch? It's really expensive. The cheaper ones start at $1,000.
The Bench Press Button Machine
Do you even bench bro? This button machine is similar to the hand press button machine. The biggest difference is that it has a base you sit on a flat surface, making it easier to use. If you are planning on making a lot of buttons but don't have thousands of dollars to spring for the automatic button machine then the bench press button machine might be the right choice for you. It retails anywhere from $100 to $400 dollars depending on which brand you choose.
The Hand Press Button Machine
This is the least expensive type of button machine. It's composed of assembly rings and a press. If you are just thinking about making buttons as a hobby or don't plan on using your button machine very often this is the best choice.
They retail for $50 to $150 and are relatively easy to use. Just because this is the cheapest type of button machine doesn't mean that it makes poor quality buttons. The reason it's less expensive is because it's harder to use and can't make buttons as fast as some of the more expensive machines.

Semi-Auto Button Machine
The semi-auto button machine is really just a variation of the bench press button machine. The difference is that you cannot remove the assembly rings, and also some of them press two buttons at a time. These cost anywhere from $250 to $1000. This is perfect if you know you will be making a large number of buttons but you don't necessarily wnt to invest thousands of dollars in a automatic button machine.
